Gone Campin'

So you're not a big fan of camping out...or maybe you are, but it's just not a good time to leave the kids home while you and your spouse take time for yourselves to get acquainted with nature (in more ways than one!) Or, maybe it's winter and frostbite isn't your thing... Put all your excuses aside...camping out at home is sure to be a night you won't forget!

Here's what you'll need:

  • The invitation---to give him a little tease (I gave him this the morning of...)

    Download here for free!
  • Glow in the dark stars (buy at any party store, $ store, walmart, online) and sticky puddy to put them on the ceiling. {Make sure the stars have been exposed to light for a while before turning off the light!}

{I PROMISE...they look way cooler when it's dark..my camera just couldn't take a decent photo of them glowing in the dark}

  • A tent (if you don't have one, borrow one, or make your own tent-like fort with blankets!)
  • Lots of blankets, pillows for inside tent (I used an air mattress with our queen-size sleeping bag)
  • Finger foods (hot dog, hamburger, chips--or BBQ something outside and bring it in to the tent)
  • Plants from around the house (mine are all fake!)
  • Nature Music: http://www.musicalrelaxation.com/free-sounds-of-nature/sound-of-nature/prod_15.html - FREE, 11 minutes long. I set mine up on the laptop which was hidden around the side of the tent. It totally set the mood!
  • Games (deck of cards or anything easy game you like to play together)
  • Flashlights

    Make sure it's all set up before your love sees it (tent up, stars on ceiling, blankets inside, nature music playing, food cooked, LIGHTS OFF!)

    Here are some additional ideas that I found on One Happy Family:
    - Cook s'mores over the stove
    - Make foil dinners in the oven
    - Eat a "Campout Cake" - (her blog has the picture)

    HAPPY CAMPING!
